Twenty years of raising the bar

As Full Bars Communications turns 20 this year, our founder Terry Rozmahel looks back on how we got here.

I was born and raised in Edmonton. Apart from four years on a farm near Viking, this city has always been home, and Alberta is where I built my education, my career and my business.

My path was not a straight line. After high school I trained as a Heavy Duty Mechanic, then moved into restaurant management. When my wife and I started our family, the restaurant hours stopped fitting the life we wanted. With her support, I went back to school at 30 for a telecommunications degree.

After I graduated, I joined a telecommunications contractor and stayed more than 14 years. I learned the whole trade there. The technology and the installs, yes, but also customer service, how to run a business, and how much the relationships matter.

In 2006, I was ready for something of my own. I founded Full Bars Communications on a simple idea: honesty, integrity, quality work, and treating customers right. Those values still run the company today.

We earn trust by listening, doing reliable work, and standing behind it.

We started out installing in-building cellular booster systems. Before long, past customers were calling to ask if we could handle their network cabling too. A lot of them found us in the White Pages, which is hard to believe now.

As we grew, so did what our clients needed. They wanted one company they could trust to do it all under one roof. So we expanded. Today we handle structured cabling, cellular enhancement, CCTV, access control, intrusion detection, wireless building surveys, and the rest of a building's low-voltage systems.

What started as a one-person operation is now a team that holds the same standards. We take on jobs from the first design and consultation right through installation and ongoing support.

The thing I am proudest of after 20 years is not the projects. It is the relationships. We earn trust by listening, doing reliable work, and standing behind it. Many of our customers have been with us for years, and I am grateful for that.
